Cuatro Calas has also been included by the European Commission in the Natura 2000 network as a Site of Community Interest, and contains the Cañada Brusca salt marsh, which is a candidate to become a botanical micro-reserve, and the volcanic outcrop of Punta Parda, which has been proposed as a Site of Geological Interest.
