THE CETS
The
Regional Park of Sierra Espuña and its surroundings has become the first protected natural space of the Region of Murcia, supported by the
European Charter of Sustainable Tourism, CETS.
The EUROPARC Federation grants this accreditation at European level to protected natural spaces which have shown their commitment to sustainable tourism.

ENSURES THAT
· You are in a place in which there is a commitment to provide tourist activities developed in a sustainable way. This activities respect ecological guidelines and are tailored to the natural, cultural and human environment.
· If you decide to come you will contribute favourably to the local economic development and to the quality of life of the population, but especially to the sociocultural enrichment of the destination.
· Reciclying and minimising waste in tourist facilities of this area have a key role. You will see that special attention is given to the issues of transportation, use of energies and renewable resources.
TEAMWORK
The sustainable development ceases to be simply a good idea to become a reality at a time when all parties involved start to cooperate.
Within this framework, tourist entreprises and managers of protected natural spaces achieve mutual commitments which allow to minimise the impact of tourism on the environment, to improve the quality of life of the local population and to increase the benefits of tourism on the territory.
Members of the Regional Park of Sierra Espuña have been grouped into the Follow-up forum, which nowadays has 56 members, among which the city councils of Aledo, Alhama de Murcia, Mula, Pliego and Totana, the Tourist Community (Mancomunidad Turística) of Sierra Espuña, the tourist businesspeople of the surroundings of the Park, the neighbourhood and women associations of the districts.
