A weekend at the Fortress of the sun Are you ready? Use your vivid imagination to enjoy the most exciting experiences at the Fortress of the Sun, the perfect stage to travel through the past hand in hand with many different characters. Children and adults will be real protagonists. Would you like to know how a castle used to be in the Middle Ages? We recommend you go for a walk with our guides through the remains of the Jewish quarter at the castle's Archaeological Park, visit the Sinagogue and go up to the city's highest spot on the Espolón tower, or make a typical cake at the cuisine workshop. Book in advance and you will enjoy a great visit including a tasting of the season set meal at the "Caballerizas del Castillo". This border city, declared as a Historic-Artistic Ensemble in 1964, preserves its glorious past with its medieval, renaissance and baroque architecture, so that you can enjoy here your own history.

In the Fortress of the Sun we travel to the Middle Ages through a visit to its towers, walls and cisterns in the most fun way: participating in the dramatized family visits "Treasure Hunting", where a knight or a healer tell you all their secrets. You will also discover a Hebrew synagogue, unique in Europe due to the remains it preserves.

In summer the Fortress of the Sun is filled with events for all ages, such as ¿The Night of the Perseids¿, to enjoy the stars and music; or the night visits, in which legends and myths come to life through curious characters. In autumn, Witches¿ Night is celebrated in which the witches wait for you hidden among the paths and walls of the fortress. Spring has culture as its protagonist with the Night of the Museums and winter has gastronomy with the traditional slaughter of a Chato Murciano local pig.
