Murcia, Color and Flavor

Only in Murcia does a whole museum emerge onto the street. On Good Friday works found in the Iglesia de Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno's (Church of Our Father Jesus the Nazarene) by Francisco Salzillo fill our streets with color in what is one of our city's most striking and spectacular processions. Thus, our tour begins at this museum, to learn about the art of the premier Spanish sculptor of the 18th century. Afterwards we will head for the Plaza de las Agustinas (Agustinians) in front of which we find the city museum, where we will learn about Murcia's historical origins. Our squares are unique, framed by historic buildings, trees, and monumental churches. From the Plaza de Santo Domingo (St. Dominic) we head from the Calle Traperia, to the Plaza de la Cruz, to enter the Cathedral.

The streets are lined with bars, taverns and restaurants serving up tasty tapas along with local beers, while regional wines expose visitors to a part of our way of life. One of the most emblematic sites in Murcia is the square known as the Plaza de las Flores y Santa Catalina (Square of Flowers and St. Catherine).
