El conjunto de tres abrigos se encuentra encerrado en un profundo barranco en la altiplanicie desértica de Ascoy. En las paredes pintadas del abrigo I de Los Grajos llama la atención la presencia de figuras humanas y cuadrúpedos. Entre las primeras se identifican un número muy abundante de mujeres que parecen formar grupos de danzantes, entre las cuales se hallan un número inferior de representantes masculinos. Los cuadrúpedos, cérvidos y cápridos se sitúan en zonas laterales y en número sustancialmente menor a los motivos humanos, que parecen ser los verdaderos protagonistas de estos paneles.

Do you want to know what the landscape of the moon looks like without leaving the Earth? Come to the Barrancos de Gebas (gorges), in the centre of the Region of Murcia between the municipalities of Alhama de Murcia and Librilla. This protected natural area stuns visitors with its colours, shapes, contrasts, nature and history, impressing all who tread its stark slopes, with the waters of the Algeciras Reservoir in the background. The Barrancos de Gebas stand as a counterpoint to the environmental contrasts of the Peninsula’s southeast. Few places feature forests as dense as that of the Sierra Espuña, not far from the sub-desert landscape of Gebas. Despite appearances, the area is home to communities of fauna and flora fascinating for how they have adapted to survive under very difficult conditions of low rainfall and intense sunshine. Thanks to all these elements, the Barrancos de Gebas was declared a Protected Landscape in 1995. In addition, their great geological and geomorphological value means that they represent one of the finest examples of badlands in the Region of Murcia, leading to their classification as a Site of Geological Interest (LIG). La Unión
Abierto el plazo de inscripciones para el XXIV Certamen Nacional de Teatro “José Baeza Clemares”, organizado por el Ayuntamiento de La Unión. El certamen se celebrará del 23 al 27 de marzo de 2026 en el Salón de Actos del Museo Minero de La Unión. Las representaciones de los grupos participantes tendrán lugar de lunes a viernes. El sábado se celebrará una función final fuera de concurso, a cargo de una compañía no participante, junto con la entrega de premios. El certamen está abierto a grupos teatrales aficionados o amateurs. El plazo de inscripción finaliza el 2 de marzo de 2026 a las 12:00 horas. Las bases completas pueden consultarse en este post y, a partir del lunes, también estarán disponibles en la web del Ayuntamiento de La Unión www.ayto-launion.org

Caravaca de La Cruz
The monument consists of two clearly differentiated parts: the walls and the sanctuary. Despite its Islamic origins, the monument has undergone many changes. Nowadays, fourteen different shaped-and-sized fortified towers are spread along the wall. The fortress belonged first to the Order of the Temple, and later to the Order of Santiago ¿a Spanish Christian military order. Moreover, the castle was used for military purposes during the Spanish Succession War and the Peninsular War. The Santuario de la Stma. y Vera Cruz (the Holy True Cross Sanctuary) was built in the heart of the old fortress in the 17th century. Then, in the 18th century, its magnificent baroque façade was annexed to the sanctuary. The monument as a whole, whose guidelines resemble those of the Monasterio del Escorial (El Escorial Monastery, Madrid) was declared a national Artistic-Historical Monument in 1944. No doubt the presence of the Vera Cruz (the Holy True Cross) has contributed to the sanctuary preservation. The church has a Latin-Cross plan, a continuous gallery over the lateral naves, and also a dome over the transept. Yecla
La Basílica Arciprestal de la Purísima Concepción o Iglesia Nueva fue construida en dos fases; a partir de 1775 por José López, quien realiza los planos y en una segunda fase, tras un periodo de interrupción por Jerónimo Ros, quien termina su construcción en 1868 y se encarga de realizar la emblemática cúpula de la Basílica. Su estilo es neoclásico, aunque por su grandiosidad se confunde con edificios del siglo XVI. El templo presenta planta de cruz latina, de tres naves, separadas por arcos de medio punto con cúpula semiesférica peraltada sobre el crucero y capillas en los contrafuertes, anexionando la Capilla de la Comunión. La nave central mide 50 m. de longitud y la crucera 40 m. Destaca la cúpula semiesférica construida con teja vidriada azul y blanca, dispuesta en espiral. En el interior son admirables las pinturas de las bóvedas de la nave central, el crucero y el presbiterio, obra del pintor lorquino Manuel Muñoz Barberán. El altar está construido en mármol y la temática del frontal trata la Multiplicación de los panes y los peces. El púlpito se encuentra restaurado, siendo el original y está situado en la nave central, en el lado de la epístola. El acceso al templo se realiza por dos portadas, una lateral al final de la nave crucera, teniendo al otro extremo una gran vidriera; la otra entrada, al final de la nave central con una escalinata, debido al desnivel del terreno y pensada en un principio como fachada principal. La Capilla de la Comunión, también de estilo neoclásico, presenta un gran medallón en alto relieve en su fachada. Destaca un retablo con la imagen del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús y pinturas al óleo de Muñoz Barberán. Resalta también la imagen de la Virgen de las Angustias, de Francisco Salzillo, que se venera en la Capilla de los Aynat.

The monument consists of three naves. The central one was rebuilt in the 18th century upon a previous church, which started to be built in the last quarter of the 15th century. Its neo-Romanesque bell tower is a work by José Marín Baldó, and it dates from the late 19th century. The Basilica was consecrated in May 3rd 1946 by the Bishop of Astorga Jesús Mérida Pérez, who was from Cieza by birth. The processional images that can be admired inside the Basilica were carved by Roque López, Ignacio Pinazo, González Moreno, Sánchez Lozano, Capuz, Manuel Juan Carrillo Marco and José Planes, among others. From Holy Week (the last week of Lent) until the día de la Cruz (day of the Holy Cross, in May 3rd), we can contemplate the Santo Cristo del Consuelo image (¿Christ of the Consolation¿) made by Juan Rigusteza in the 17th century, which is Cieza¿s most revered image.

Cartagena
Once the church of the Caridad Hospital, in its present form it has a Neoclassical style and a metal structure. The interior is dominated by the dome, a typical feature of many Neoclassical buildings, whose model was Agrippa's Pantheon in Rome. The basilica is the home of the city's patron saint, the Virgin of Sorrow, an 18th century image sculpted in Naples. There are several sculptures by Salzillo and his school, including the Crucifixion, the Rococo altarpiece in the Comunión Chapel and the canvases painted by Manuel Wssell de Guimbarda in 1893.
